2014 World Cup demand is high

Fifa are planning on holding a random draw to allocate the seats for the upcoming 2014 World Cup in Brazil after 6 million people applied for a ticket around the world, which is double the amount of seats available. However, the majority of that number has come from the host country itself, Brazil.

The Brazilians must fancy their national football team for the 2014 World Cup, which is being hosted in Rio de Janeiro, as over 4 million fans have applied for tickets. The home side have an extremely promising squad going into the World Cup and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Brazilians.

Hosts Brazil tops demand for 2014 World Cup

Brazil are by far the highest country in demand of 2014 World Cup tickets, and unsurprisingly too as this is a once in a life time opportunity for Brazilians to see their home team host the World Cup. Tickets applications have been recorded by Brazil to be 4,368,029 whilst the second highest applicants were the United States, having 374,065 people applying for tickets.

Argentina, Germany and Chile are the next highest applicants followed by England who have had 96,780 people apply for a ticket. 751,165 people have applied for the final with only 80,000 seats being available for each match. Each person could only apply for four tickets per match for a total of 7 matches.  The last time Brazil hosted a World Cup was in 1950 and is only the third country to hold a World Cup twice after Italy held it in 1934 and 1990 and France held it in 1938 and 1998 (not including West Germany in 1974 and Germany in 2006).

Some tickets for the 2014 World Cup will not be allocated in the draw, but then will be sold on a first come first serve basis on 5th November. More tickets will become available to buy on 8th December following the final World Cup draw, before the first game kicks off in Sao Paolo on 12th June 2014. The 2014 World Cup final will be at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on 13th July 2014.
