Alexander Rossi has been given the chance to show the world what he is made of on the track. The twenty three year old is delighted with this opportunity and has made a bid to impress on the circuit.
Alexander Rossi has signed a last minute deal with the Manor team, securing his place on the grid for the up and coming Singapore grand prix. Speaking of his elation and his intentions to do well Rossi has said:
“This is a major step in really firmly putting myself on the F1 map and I’m just focusing on doing a really good job in these five races, I was on a plane Tuesday evening, and I booked the flight Tuesday morning. The discussions started taking place shortly after Monza.”
He went on to explain how the new contract might have come about. He made reference to his history with the team, but also said that he wasn’t expecting a contract so soon:
“Obviously I’ve had quite a bit of history with this team, in 2014, so we’ve always had good communication over the beginning of this year. But I wasn’t expecting 2015 to be a year where I was racing an F1 car.”
Alexander Rossi will replace Roberto Merhi on the team, and is due to race the last five races of the season. Merhi has said that he wasn’t aware he was being replaced by Rossi, and that he wasn’t informed of his redundancy until he arrived in Singapore earlier this week. The twenty four year old is uncertain of where his future lies.
Only time will tell if the Manor team will benefit from their new signing but it is clear to see that Alexander Rossi is intent on proving himself.
