The current England coach, Andy Flower has promised the English fans that he will make changes going into the third Ashes Test. The first two tests played in Australia between the hosts and England were appalling for the visitors as they lost them both by an embarrassing margin. It was only a few months previously in the summer when England defeated Australia to claim the third Ashes victory in a row, yet the odds for a fourth in a row look ever so slim now.
The first test was a complete domination by Australia whose captain, Michael Clarke led the team wonderfully and set the right example for his fellow team-mates. The hosts batted fantastically for both innings and also bowled well, but along with the help of abysmal batting from England, Australia won the first test by 381 runs. The second test was not as bad, but still a day the England team would rather forget as they were conquered again by the home team, this time by a score of 218 runs.
England need to turn the ashes series around in the next test if they want to win a fourth consecutive Ashes Urn, something that hasn’t been achieved since 1890. However, Andy Flower believes that with the help of the impressive young English cricketers the visitors can make an unlikely comeback.
England’s coach Andy Flower commented, “We have taken some serious hits but we do have a squad full of people who are determined to turn the ship around, and that’s what we must do. I’m absolutely ready to make tough decisions. There will obviously be changes in Perth. We haven’t been skilful enough for long enough to get into better positions in the matches. I know we have a mixture of experienced and young players, but a lot of these players have done some amazing things for England in the recent past, and we are going to have to fight for that to happen again.”
