Arsenal take on the Champions – Predictions

The big game of the weekend takes place on Super Sunday as Arsenal take on the team who have just won the Premier League title for a record 20th time, Manchester United. Arsenal are fighting to keep their place in the top four positions, so that they qualify for a place in next year’s Champions League. But it is not going to be an easy job for Arsenal to qualify with tough competition from Chelsea, Tottenham and there’s even an outside chance for Everton. The two other competitors for the Champions League have very winnable games, as Spurs play relegation candidates Wigan and Chelsea take on mid-table team Swansea.

On the other hand, Arsenal have to play the best team in the Premier League at the moment and a team who are in fine form and scoring goals for fun, Manchester United. They are playing arguably the best football they have ever played and will want to break the record for winning the league with the most points, which is a record currently held by Chelsea at 95 points. The only way the Red Devils are able to beat this record is to win every remaining match they have to play. Beating the current record will be Sir Alex Ferguson’s main objective from now till the end of the season.

The other vital match is occurring on Monday night, and is at the bottom end of the table between two relegation candidates, Aston Villa and Sunderland. This should an exciting match as both teams have been on decent form of late with Sunderland’s new manager, Paolo Di Canio, winning two of his three games since taking over. Aston Villa lost to Manchester United on Monday which meant that the Red Devils won the league, but before that extremely tough match they had gained 10 points from a possible 15, which considering their form earlier in the season, is quite a good run for the Villains. Both teams will be going out for the victory, as they need to pull away from the relegation zone as quick as they can.
