The football transfer window is fairly busy at the moment and the big news is surrounding one of the world’s best players, Cristiano Ronaldo. There was speculation going on that the Portuguese was going to re-new his contract with the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, after their president Florentino Perez believes that the star will “retire at Real Madrid.” The Spanish team, which play in the legendary all white kit, paid a record £80 million for the forward from Manchester United in 2009.
However, although the Real Madrid president truly believes he can keep Cristiano Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, it will be hard to turn down the record breaking surprise bid for Ronaldo from Monaco who has offered £85 million. The French side are looking to capture Ronaldo by breaking the previous world record for the highest sold player in football, which was actually held by Cristiano Ronaldo himself.
Monaco have already made it clear that they will pay big money for the forward; yet, this isn’t the first time this summer they have spent big for players. Recently, Monaco completed the signing of three players, Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho which all equal up to over £100 million. Russian billionaire, Dmitry Rybolovlev, is spending massive amounts of money for Monaco with a vision of them to challenge PSG for the Ligue 1 title next season; despite only just getting promoted from Ligue 2 last season.
Earlier in the week, Florentino Perez announced, “I would bet Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid because it’s the natural thing. We will negotiate the new contract before the start of La Liga and I am convinced that everything will come out well. To renew Cristiano before the start of the season is my desire and my ambition. We will do everything possible to make it happen.” However, Cristiano Ronaldo laid down the truth as he tweeted, “All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid is false.”
This just begs the question which most football fans in England would love to know, is there any chance that Cristiano Ronaldo will return to the Premier League? If he is to return we all know where he is likely go, Manchester United. The Red Devils is where the Portuguese truly began his career as a youngster and made him into one of the world’s best and most famous players in the world; he loves the club.
The rumour going around is that Cristiano Ronaldo could return to England, if Real Madrid can secure the Premier League’s Player of the Year, Gareth Bale. The Welshman attracted attention from all over the world with his performance last season putting Tottenham on his back and leading them to victories, practically on his own. So if Madrid do get Bale (for a rumoured £85 million), do you think Ronaldo could leave? If so, where do you think he is likely to go?
