The England international cricket team proved their worth in Australia today as they have managed to absolutely demolish the favourites for the Cricket World Cup, India. In the first tri-series match, England played against Australia; the hosts unfortunately managed to defeat the English team by 3 wickets. Australia then continued their wonderful form by defeating India in the second match of the tri-series by 4 wickets. Yet, today England have showed that they do mean business as they claimed the biggest win of the tri-series yet, with a 9 wicket victory over India.
Since England have appointed a new captain in the form of Eoin Morgan, who replaced Alastair Cook, the team have looked impressive in both matches they have played in the tri-series. England bowlers Steve Finn and James Anderson, who was making a return from a knee injury, managed to take impressive scores of 5-33 and 4-18 against India, respectively. England managed to bowl India all out for 153. England’s batting was also next to none as Ian Bell managed to hit an unbeaten 88, whilst James Taylor managed a 56 not out, all inside 28 overs.
This triumphant victory over India is Eoin Morgan’s first victory as captain and he will certainly look to improve on this win, starting with England’s next match against Australia on Friday. The two sides will meet again for a second time in the tri-series with Australia on top of the table, England second and India last. The World Cup favourites, India are yet to win a match on their tour of Australia, but will look to end their win drought against the Aussies on Monday. Whoever finishes in the top two places of the table will fight it out in the Final for the title of the tri-series.
