FA Cup 2015: quarter-final draw

Last night confirmed the line-up for the quarter-final of the most exciting cup in English football, the FA Cup, after Manchester United managed to come from behind to defeat Preston 3-1. The Red Devils will host Arsenal at Old Trafford for the next round as the Gunners will be looking to continue their FA Cup run in an attempt to retain the title. Arsenal have earned the place in the quarter-final after they eliminated Middlesbrough in a comfortable 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. Manchester United vs Arsenal has been labelled as the best match of the quarter-final draw.

FA Cup could be won by anyone this year

As always the FA Cup has not failed to disappoint us for excitement and shocks as there have been many this year, most notably with Bradford defeating Chelsea in the fourth round. Bradford continued their brilliant FA Cup run by knocking out Premier League side Sunderland to reach the quarter-finals. The Bantams have a slightly easier fixture in the next round as they are hosting Championship side, Reading, who are yet to meet a Premier League side in the competition. Liverpool arguably have the easiest draw as they are at home to Championship side Blackburn Rovers, who surprised Stoke City in the previous round, obliterating them 4-1.

However, one of the most competitive clashes of the quarter-final for this year’s FA Cup is set to be the midlands derby between Aston Villa and West Brom. The two Premier League sides are local rivals, meaning the match is guaranteed to be hotly contested and feisty from beginning to end. Aston Villa have the pleasure of hosting the draw after recruiting new manager Tim Sherwood. Yet, the Villains will be up for a tough fight against the Baggies as West Brom have a found a new form and look likely to reach the semi-finals and go to Wembley.

FA Cup 2015 quarter-final draw:

Aston Villa v West Brom
Bradford City v Reading
Liverpool v Blackburn
Manchester United v Arsenal
