Hamilton was in trouble at yesterday’s European Grand Prix in Baku. The reigning World Champion was clearly in trouble as his radio conversations to his team were televised.
Hamilton has said that he is afraid of missing out on a fourth title due to technical difficulties. Yesterday the talented driver was stuck in fifth place as he attempted to negotiate the track at Baku with an engine that was giving out less power than it should have been.
He actually did well to finish in fifth given the circumstances. The team behind Lewis Hamilton admitted that they had incorrectly programmed the engine. Rosberg’s car had been programmed in the same way but, unlike his team mate, he was able to adjust it.
The thirty one year old requested assistance over the radio as the race went on yesterday. However, due to restrictions and F1 rules his team were only able to provide him with limited information. He struggled to rectify the situation and just had to drive with the power that he had:
“I am just glad I got some points and am hoping from now on I will have some better races, but I have been hoping that for some time and still have these engine problems here and there so we have work to do.”
Lewis Hamilton is now a firm 24 points away from Nico Rosberg who sits comfortably at the top of the table. He admitted that he wasn’t feeling particularly confident at this moment in time, but he did refer to the remaining thirteen Grand Prix races still to go.
Hamilton seemed to be happy for his team mate Rosberg and stated that it looked as though it was going to be a good year for the German driver.
