Jamie Codd is getting ready for the fast approaching Cheltenham festival, due to take place in little over two weeks. The amateur Irish jockey is still deciding on his choices and is in high demand due to his spate of success this season.
Codd is expected to have plenty of options when it comes to having to decide on his ride. His history at Cheltenham will mean that he is in demand to partner some of the best horses. Winner of the Kim Muir Handicap Chase for the last two years, the Jockey hopes that he can hold on to the title and possibly achieve more in the amateur races.
The Irishman is hoping that he will be in the saddle aboard, On The Fringe in the Foxhunter Chase. Other than this though he has no definite ideas about who he hopes to ride to victory.
Speaking ahead of the National Hunt meeting of the year the Jockey said:
“I’m not really sure what’s going on just yet, but I’ll probably have a better idea in the next 10 days or so. On The Fringe is probably the main one, and if he runs I’ll definitely ride him. But as for the Kim Muir and the four-miler, horses have to get there first so nothing is set in stone just yet.”
Anticipation for the famous festival is fast building as plans are being made and look set to play out perfectly. It may well be more popular than ever on Gold Cup Friday owing to it being set to fall on St Patrick’s day, one of the most celebrated dates in Ireland.
There is a massive following this year and we will soon see who we can expect to feature and in what race as the festival draws near.
