Just five months ago, Formula 1 team McLaren, appointed Jost Capito as the new company Chief Executive Officer. Now it’s all change again as it is announced he will be formally leaving the Racing Team.
Fifty eight year old, Jost Capito, was recruited as CEO of McLaren Racing by Ron Dennis last year. Capito, began his work with the team in September but has been pushed aside after McLaren decided to part ways with Dennis, as an active CEO.
A spokesperson from McLaren announced that it was with regret that the team had not been able to reach a common goal with Capito. The former Volkswagen head, had ideas that differed from the company’s plans moving forward.
Overall the aim is to make sure that McLaren is able to become as successful as it has been previously. Despite the fact that both Capito and the rest of the team wanted the same outcome, the route to how they might achieve the desired level of success was in dispute.
Capito is said to have had a very strong commitment to McLaren and what he believed could help to reignite the brands previous successes. He wanted to structure a winning team and dedicate time to improvements that could be made to the McLaren F1 car. His long term goal was to focus on winning the World Championships over the course of the next couple of years.
Capito is believed to have been minimising his time spent at the company towards the end of last year. In fact he hasn’t been working at the company on a daily bases since last December. He may have been negotiating departure terms during this time, which have only recently been agreed.
To coincide with these events Ron Dennis has been on gardening leave since last November, Just one month before change became apparent for Capito. Dennis is still with McLaren as a non-executive chairman, but he has no active duties within the company.
