Kevin Pietersen set to return for Twenty20

Kevin Pietersen will finally make his return to cricket towards the end of the month when England take on New Zealand in the Twenty20 series. Pietersen has been out of cricket since March when he suffered a knee injury when touring in New Zealand, but now he is set to return against that very team in attempt to help his international side to a Twenty20 victory. Unfortunately, this injury has forced the England Cricket star to miss the return series straight after his injury occurred, and then the ICC Champions Trophy which is underway now, in which England have reached the final.

Kevin Pietersen will give his team a boost by playing for his international side in the second match of the Twenty20 series which is set to begin on 25th June. The second match will be played on the 27th June meaning that is the date he shall make his return. Normally for the Twenty20 series, Stuart Broad would be the captain, but England are planning on saving him for the Ashes afterwards so instead, Eoin Morgan captains the squad that will play New Zealand in the two-match series.

Kevin Pietersen available for second Twenty20 test match

Before he is to return to the England team, Kevin Pietersen is scheduled to play for his Surrey team against Yorkshire on Friday in preparation for his international call-up. Pietersen will be warming up for the larger competition, the five-Test Ashes series, which starts on 10thJuly as he has already been a part of the team which has won 3 Ashes titles. He is one of England’s key players scoring 7,499 runs at an average of 49.01 in 94 Test matches.

However, his surrounding team for the Twenty20 include players who have never made starts for England before such as Gary Ballance and Boyd Rankin. Then again, Rankin does have Twenty20 experience, but for his original nation, Ireland. He chose to switch his cricket duties from playing for Ireland to playing for England which could be a lucky thing for the Three Lions as he is a very good player.

England Twenty20 squad: Eoin Morgan (Captain), Gary Ballance, Ravi Bopara, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Alex Hales, Michael Lumb, Kevin Pietersen (Only for the second match), Boyd Rankin, Ben Stokes, James Tredwell, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright.
