Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton has really hit form this season as he has claimed two of the opening three Grand Prix’s, with the other one being claimed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg. Mercedes are the team to beat at the moment as their two drivers are adapting wonderfully to their new cars and the new rules and regulations in Formula 1. As Mercedes have won every Grand Prix so far, Hamilton has revealed that he hopes to get the edge over his teammate Rosberg, early on in the season to claim his second Driver’s Championship title.
Even though Lewis Hamilton has triumphed over his teammate in the previous two races, in Malaysia and Bahrain, he is still 11 points behind Rosberg due to not finishing the Australian Grand Prix. Rosberg won the opening race and has finished second in the following two, so it is certainly going to be difficult for Hamilton to overtake his teammate on points; the Englishman must keep winning. The Chinese Grand Prix will take place this weekend and if Hamilton is to overtake Rosberg, the 2008 English champion must finish 1st whilst his German teammate must finish 4th or lower.
Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 Drivers’ Champion, commented on his title race with Nico Rosberg, “You are always trying to get that edge. It’s not just about arriving and working hard, it’s about all the steps from now until the next race, all the decisions you make, the things in your life. They all add up as to where you are mentally. He’s already said he’s going for it at the next race, so I have to make sure the work goes in. I’m still 11 points behind after two awesome races, so I have to stick at it because he’s had a win and two seconds, a track record that so far is better than mine.”
