Nico Hulkenberg returns to Force India

The German Formula 1 driver, Nico Hulkenberg is set to return to Force India after having a season break at Sauber in 2013. There was a rumour going around that Hulkenberg was set to replace Kimi Räikkönen at Lotus in 2014; Kimi will race for Ferrari next year. It has now been officially confirmed that Hulkenberg will return to Force India, despite the Lotus rumour. The German spent two years with Force India in 2011 and 2012 where he raced as a test driver in his first season with them and finished 11th in the Drivers’ Championship table after gaining 63 points.

Nico Hulkenberg hopes to improve after move to Force India

Points wise, Nico Hulkenberg did worse this year at Sauber considering he only won 51 points in 2013, but after saying that he still managed to finish in a higher position in the table as he finished 10th. For the upcoming season, Hulkenberg believes that Force India are aiming high and plan to race up the Conductors Championship table; this means that Hulkenberg may be in a better car than he is now and can challenge the top contenders at each Grand Prix. It has been the second half of the season that has made everyone notice Hulkenberg as he was heavily in form.

Nico Hulkenberg commented on his move for the 2014 season, “I am happy to come back to Sahara Force India. The team is aiming high for next year and I believe that the experience I have gained over the years will help us achieve those goals. I genuinely believe we can have a competitive package in 2014. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the Mercedes engine as well, so I think there is a lot to be excited about for next year. I know this team and I can see their determination; it’s a great bunch of people and we all share the same hunger for success.”

Force India had Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil in their team in the season that has just ended, but now that both of them were let go by the team, Nico Hulkenberg has taken the role of the main driver. However, Force India are yet to announce who will partner the German driver as they have said it will be announced in due course.
