Pep Guardiola Could Sign Stones?

Man City’s Pep Guardiola has let slip that he would like to add John Stones, Current defender at Everton, to his line up before the transfer window expires.

Pep Guardiola Rumoured To Pay Fifty Million

Pep Guardiola may have to pay a pretty sum for the twenty two year old that was rumoured to be leaving for Chelsea last season. Currently there is a figure of fifty million floating around. It is believed that Everton will be reluctant to accept less than that.

Following City’s victory over Borussia Dortmund Guardiola stated that his intentions to make a bid for Stones were no secret. The Manchester City Manager also said that he was happy with the team that he currently has. However there is always room for improvement.

John Stones was included in the England squad at Euro 2016; unfortunately he didn’t get the opportunity to display his talents as England were knocked out of the competition early on.

Stones is currently part of Everton’s pre-season tour of Germany. A deal hasn’t officially been announced but it is expected to go ahead. Both sides are said to be on the same page when it comes to deciding what a deal is worth for the defender.

Four years ago Stones made his first major appearance as part of the team at Barnsley, almost a year after he was purchased by Everton for a mere three million. His skills on the pitch have developed as he has matured and he could now make a huge profit for his current club.

Guardiola has before pin pointed Stones as the kind of defender that could fit in well with his tactics and with his squad at Man City.

Earlier this week the City boss admitted that in normal circumstances central defenders are strong and aggressive. However, City need a good build up in order to be able to create opportunities for easy passes in the midfield, this will mean that there are better passes available for the teams strikers.

Confident of his tactics he added:

“I believe when the ball goes from the central defender to the striker as quickly as possible, it comes as quickly as possible back. That is why the players in that area need quality. By 31st August we will have the right squad to play how we want.
