One of the most prolific events in the horse racing calendar is Royal Ascot. The event is highly anticipated each year by racing fans and the social elite. Famed for its Royal connections and glamorous dress code the meeting attracts a certain calibre of visitor every year, but this could be about to change.
The Village Enclosure, at Royal Ascot, has been purposely created to offer a fresh and vivid atmosphere in order to entice a ‘younger’ crowd. The idea behind this is that Racing at Royal Ascot will continue to flourish for many years to come through visitors from every generation.
The New Village Enclosure will include an array of bars and food outlets along with entertainment from various DJ’s. There will be areas purposely erected for comfortable socialisation. The formal dress code will still apply however, in order to retain the meetings affiliation with glamour and style.
The concept of being able to combine some of the world’s greatest racing with a stupendous party is one that Ascot’s director of Racing, Nick Smith, aspires to.
Mr Smith hopes that this festival atmosphere will be in keeping with what makes Royal Ascot so unique but at the same time it could provide the event with a little bit of a lift. He explained that the event organisers are expecting to generate a new level of interest and to keep the younger crowds coming back to Royal Ascot every year:
“We specifically want to encourage people with racing interest alongside those to whom the party atmosphere will appeal – hopefully one and the same in many cases.’
The 2017 Royal meeting is due to begin on Tuesday 20th June and covers five days of top class racing. Typically, Thursday, aka Ladies day, is the most popular day at Royal Ascot. If you want to experience Royal Ascot, then 2017 might just be the year to make sure that you are there.
