Tour of Britain 2015, is due to commence this weekend and is set to be one of the greatest years ever. Cycling has been increasing in popularity over the last few months and this September will see Great Britain play host to the sport over the eight day challenge that faces multiple teams.
The Tour of Britain 2015 will witness Sir Bradley Wiggins lead his own team in the race to win. The event is due to start this Sunday the 6th September in Anglesey, and will end on September 13th in London.
The team will be known as team Wiggins and is made up of Michael Thompson, Chris Lawless, Jonathan Dibben, Owain Doull and Andy Tennant. Wiggins is no stranger to success in the saddle, having won the tour de France back in 2012, he will be riding to win.
It won’t be easy however as tough competition will come from team SKY who always feature heavily in the leading positions. Team SKY have released the names of those included in their line-up. English pair Ben Swift and Ian Stannard will be joined by Elia Viviani from Italy, Andrew Fenn from Scotland, and Wout Poels from the Netherlands. Ben Swift realeased a statement following the team announcement from SKY:
“The Tour of Britain has become one of the stand-out races in the cycling calendar. It’s a very special feeling to race in front of your home fans and see the fantastic support that we get every year. Cycling has never been more popular in the UK and the crowds at the Tour of Britain get bigger with each edition of the race, which is great to see. This will be my seventh appearance at this race and I know just how tough the British roads can be, but we have a strong team and we’ll certainly be challenging for stage wins and the overall GC.”
