Twiston Davies has spoken out regarding his expectations, for Bristol De Mai, at the fast approaching Cheltenham Festival 2016. The renowned trainer makes a statement following the result of a great run for Bristol De Mai on Saturday at Sandown.
Nigel Twiston Davies is content with how things are going for his horses and in particular for his current frontrunner Bristol De Mai. The grey gelding is showing promising signs for a run a Cheltenham in March, following his victory in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase.
Twiston Davis won’t shout about his horse and doesn’t wish to compare him to other winners but he is happy with what is being hailed as the best run of Bristol De Mai’s career.
Paying tribute to the horse’s run Twiston Davies said:
“Bristol De Mai has come out of his race fine, which is good news. I think that was probably his best performance. In his two previous races he absolutely murdered them, but he was taking on higher class runners at Sandown and he beat them really well. Moving him up in trip to two and half miles has really helped him.”
When asked what’s next for his winner, and how his is compared to his other winners, Twiston Davies went on to say:
“He will go to the JLT now as we are pretty sure two and a half miles is his trip, but I think he will probably stay further in the end. Anything is possible, but it is too early to start to comparing him. He is a very exciting horse and we are lucky to have him.”
