Winners of the ODI Series against England last week are making plans for the next tournament less than twenty four hours after the last one.
Australia got revenge against England for the loss of the Ashes and became winners yesterday when they played in the last match of the ODI in Manchester.
Following on from the win Australia have already spoken out about the next tournament they are due to face in Bangladesh. Two uncapped players, Cameron Bancroft and Andrew Fekete, have been announced as part of the winners fifteen man squad. Australia’s Rodney Marsh, the team’s national selector made the announcement and spoke of the near future for the team:
“The retirements of five players from the squad that went on the Ashes tour, as well as issues of injury, form and conditions have brought about a major change in the profile of the touring party from the one that toured the British Isles, but with that change comes a fantastic opportunity for all the players going to Bangladesh.”
He went on to refer to the minor injury that Starc has picked up, and stated that he will continue to play unless it worsens:
“We have got some pretty important cricket coming including the T20 World Cup and we would like to see Starc lead the attack for that, but if he can’t, he can’t. At the moment the plan is for him to keep going.”
Mitchell Starc has inflammation to his ankle and for the time being he isn’t receiving any treatment. His ankle has been a long term injury and he has undergone surgeries in the past to help correct it. His ankle is something that the team’s physiotherapists are used to dealing with and they will help him to manage his pain for the foreseeable future.
